"Clear lines of communication and action between residents and agencies to make the project area beautiful, safe and pleasant"

   Welcome to the Kingfisher Project

The Kingfisher Project Management Group was formed in March 2005 and was made up of residents from the area, the Resident Involvement Officer from Trent & Dove Housing, parish councillors, local authority park ranger and a representative from Staffordshire Wildlife Trust.

There has been an average of 30 local residents involved in the project at any one time, along with 5 local schools and a total of 12 local stakeholder agencies.

Holding a number of stakeholder consultation events with residents, agencies and schools, five main issues were agreed which became the aims of the project.

 flood control

 residential and commercial water supply

nature conservation and biodiversity

public amenity and leisure

 historical and educational resource for residents and schools

Communication between the Kingfisher Project group and all of its stakeholders has been the key driver to ensuring that the projects aims are achieved and that partnerships are developed and maintained.

The Kingfisher Project has been recognised nationally as a model of resident led participation and the area has been awarded environmental green flags and designated as a 'Local Nature Reserve'.
